Privacy Policy

Quads teaches poker. It never handles real money for play. We collect what it needs to save your progress, and analytics on how this site and the app are used, so we can fix and improve them. We never sell your data.

Who We Are

Quads is run by Graham Zemel LLC, the controller of your data. Questions or requests: privacy@getquads.com.

Who It Is For

Quads is for people 18 and older. The app asks before you start. Nothing is recorded in the app before you answer, and if you say you are under 18, Quads records no usage data about you.

What We Collect

Your accountYour email address or Apple or Google sign-in identifier, and the name or email those providers share. Used to sign you in and keep your progress on every device. If you sign in with Apple, we also keep the token Apple gives us, readable only by our servers, so that deleting your account can revoke it.
Your progressLessons finished, your rank, your answers, hands you saved, and your settings. Stored so a new phone or a cleared browser never loses them.
Leaderboards, friends and requestsIf you have set a name and show on the leaderboards, other signed-in players see your first name, your avatar, your rank and your place on the boards everyone sees: Hands of the Day read right this week, and your day streak. Your friends see your first name as you typed it, your avatar and rank, lessons won, tables beaten, Beat the Table stars, your day streak, and all your board numbers (your chips, XP this week and Hall of Hands score too). If you are a Quads+ member, players also see a small Quads+ mark by your name, which you can hide on the Quads+ page. A player on a board can send you a friend request; nobody becomes your friend until you accept. If you block a player, you are hidden from each other’s boards and neither can send the other a request. If a player reports your name, we keep the report for 90 days to review it. Turn the boards or requests off in the app’s Settings, under Privacy.
Welcome questionsYour answers to the three questions in the Welcome! lesson: how you found Quads, what you want poker for, and how many minutes a day you want to play. They are kept on your device and sent to our analytics (PostHog), where they are linked to your account when you are signed in. We use them to see who Quads helps and to improve it.
Your time zoneWhen you are signed in, your device’s time zone (for example America/New_York), kept with your account. It tells us when your day starts and ends, for the Arcade, the Hand of the Day and the weekly boards. It can change at most once a day.
Feedback you sendIf you send a message with the help or feedback buttons in the app, we get what kind of message it is, the text you write, and where you were: the screen, and the lesson, question, hand or table you were on, plus the app version, your platform and your theme. It goes to our analytics (PostHog), and is linked to your account when you are signed in. If you choose “you can email me back”, we use your account email to reply. We read these messages to fix problems and improve Quads.
Usage dataThe pages and screens you open, what you tap, session recordings (on the web only), your device and approximate location, so we can see where people get stuck. When you are signed in it is linked to your account. See “Usage data” below.
PurchasesIf you buy Quads Plus: the plan, the dates and the status. Card details go to the payment provider, never to us.

We never read your phone’s contacts or address book. Your friends list is made inside Quads, by an invite link or a friend request you accept, and is kept with your account. We do not collect your precise location or advertising identifiers.

Usage Data

We use PostHog, a product analytics provider, which processes usage data in the United States. On this site and in the app it records:

Your choices:

Cookies and Storage

The app keeps your progress and settings in your browser’s local storage, so it works offline. On getquads.com and app.getquads.com we also use:

In the iOS app, the progress, settings, analytics id and consent answer are kept in the app’s own storage on your phone, not in Safari, so the app and this site do not share an id. Quads sets no advertising cookies of its own. On the web, Google may set its own once you tap Watch a Video.

Who Processes Your Data

Each of these providers must protect your data as well as this policy does, and we share it only with providers that do. They process data for us and may store it in the United States, so data can leave the EU and UK under the providers’ standard safeguards.

Ads

Quads has one kind of ad: Watch a Video, a short video you choose to play for Coins or Arcade chips. Nothing plays by itself, and no ad appears anywhere else in Quads.

How Long We Keep It

We keep your account and progress until you delete your account. Usage data, recordings included, is kept for up to one year, and is deleted with your account. When you delete your account we delete the account, your progress and your usage-data profile. We keep one anonymous count that an account was deleted, with no way to tie it to you. How to delete your account.

Your Rights

You can export your progress from Settings, and correct or delete your data there. Depending on where you live (for example under GDPR or UK GDPR) you can also ask us for a copy of your data, including usage data, ask us to correct it, object to or limit how we use it, or complain to your data protection authority. Email privacy@getquads.com and we will reply within 30 days.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and stored with Google Firebase. No service is perfectly secure, so if something goes wrong that affects you we will tell you.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before it takes effect, and the date above will change.
